Identify the entrance and the fault
Explain whether the problem affects a shop entrance, office suite, staff door or a shared lobby. Mention the door material and whether the key, handle or latch has stopped operating normally. Separate mechanical lock trouble from an intercom, reader or other electronic access issue. Support for specialist equipment should be confirmed using the existing system details.
Account for everyone who needs access
Before changing a lock, establish which staff, occupants or contractors depend on it. Say if the key is part of an existing master-key arrangement. Coordinate with building management where an entrance is shared, and identify any door that serves an escape route. The proposed change needs to suit the whole entrance arrangement, not only the immediate key problem.
Prepare the booking and handover
Provide the full address, site contact and any reception or contractor check-in arrangements. For planned work, list the doors involved and the times when access can be provided. Ask for labour, parts and any additional attendance to be distinguished in the quote. Agree who will receive the keys and check the repaired door before the job is closed.
